The Knight Commander of the Temple is the second highest decoration awarded by the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the United States of America.

Knight Templar Cross of Honor

The Knight Templar Cross of Honor is presented by the Grand Master of the Grand Encampment of the United States of America to deserving Sir Knights of constituent and subordinant Commanderies upon recommendation of the Grand Commandery of Texas. The award is made only for exceptional and meritorious service rendered to the Order, far beyond the call of duty, and beyond the service usually expected of an officer or a member.

Excalibur Award

The Excalibur Award is presented by the Grand Commandery of Texas, upon election by a constituent Commandery, to a Sir Knight who has performed outstanding service to that Commandery. Commanderies may only nominate one recipient a year, and the nominee may not be a dais officer. Nominees who are Past Commanders are not eligible for the award until three years have passed since their service as Commander.

Commander’s Distinguished Service Medal

The Commander’s Distinguished Service Medal is presented each year to the commander of a constituent commandery which has earned the Certificate of Merit for that year and when certain other requirements have been met.
